The first-generation Ford Thunderbird debuted in 1955 as a stylish blend of performance and comfort, defining the personal luxury car segment. Produced through 1957, it quickly became iconic, and the 1956 model introduced key upgrades such as a 12-volt system, fender vents, a continental spare tire option, and a removable hardtop with porthole windows. These refinements enhanced both practicality and visual appeal.

This 1956 Thunderbird is a three-owner, garage-kept example that remains largely original, with just a few cosmetic updates. It was refinished in its original Raven Black in 1992 and still presents well despite minor age-related wear. Exterior features include a continental kit, rear fender skirts, wide whitewall tires, and refinished chrome, along with both a removable hardtop and soft top. The interior was also restored in 1992 with black and white vinyl, retaining its classic design and upgraded with a modernized audio system.

Powered by its original “P-code” 312ci V8 producing 225 horsepower, the engine has had a rebuilt top end and added electronic ignition. It retains many original components and is paired with a 3-speed Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission. With power steering and power drum brakes, this Thunderbird offers a smooth driving experience, making it a well-preserved and highly desirable example of a 1950s American classic.
